IDK how to respond, but I feel obliged to somehow reply to this thread. I have no idea what could be wrong with current sounds, let's take manana as an example. As a matter of fact the sound was taken from a pretty good recording, no low quality stuff or anything.
HOWEVER
At the end of the day I decided to redo the manana sound and after the next server restart you will be able to hear it in its 2018 HQ glory.

So how do I get easy wins?
Well, it depends on what kind of races you want to kick asses in.
1. FOR ANY KIND OF CIRCUIT/SPRINT RACE OTHER THAN AMBASSADOR RIDGE
Here's the main rules:
- you don't need top speed at all
- you need acceleration
- you need fuckload of traction
The Setup:
Engine, ECU, transmission - not so useful, engine upgrade enhances your top speed way too much and we don't need that
- I recommend using street ECU and transmission and stock engine but it all depends on how well your car accelerates in stock form
Tires - THE MOST USEFUL UPGRADE YOU WILL EVER SEE
- always use pro tires
Suspension - depends on the car
- some cars need street or race suspension, some do well with stock
Brakes - same as suspension
Turbo - I recommend using street level
Weight Reduction - depends on the car
- I recommend using street or stock level
Nitro - I recommend using pro level
2. FOR ANY KIND OF DRAG RACE
Here's the main rules:
- top speed is necessary
- good balance between acceleration and traction
The Setup:
Engine, ECU, transmission - I recommend using pro everything for some good top speed and acceleration

I own an Elegy with a complex setup. So far on ~5 combinations I've used the car has had only 3 gears (1st and 2nd gears are normal but 3rd gear is super long). I'm currently using stock engine, weight reduction and suspension, pro tires, race brakes, street ECU, turbo, nitro and transmission.
